The hottest ring trends this year seem to be carrying over from the designs of 2009. Despite their similarities, this year is welcoming more toned-down looks, rather than the pile-on-hodge-podge looks that were making it really big last year.
Vampire Chic. We’re seeing lots of vampire and twilight inspiration reinforced by the popularity of the HBO hit series “True Blood”. This undead look manifests itself in dark metals, deep red gemstones and skull and serpent themes. The diamond studded skull ring is so in that you can find one in nearly every designer couture jewelry line. This new trend of skull jewelry is dangerously fashionable. Angelina and Brad’s serpent-themed jewelry line that came out last year follows suit, including serpent styled and snake headed cocktail rings. These designs took off and are hot hot hot.
Flower Power. The big flower cocktail ring is being seen on countless Hollywood stars. These rings feature big colored petals typically mounted on a yellow gold band and framing a diamond or pearl eye. Dakota Fanning was recently featured on the cover of Marie Claire sporting one of these flower-motif cocktail rings, and Betsey Johnson has a number of similar designs in her funky jewelry line. It’s a perfect addition to the late-summer early-autumn look.
The Wild Side. Lions and Tigers and Bears, Oh My! Pick up a ring with wild animal motifs. These are super trendy and fun to wear. Think outside the box: sea creatures, lizards, insects, pumas and more. Pick out one that is studded with gemstones and wraps around the finger.
Long and Sexy. The long ring is in. This ring stretched from the base of your finger to over your knuckle. Some of the coolest looks feature dented gold, feathery/fanned designs and spring-like spirals. While the look is super sophisticated, long rings aren’t the most practical, so make sure that your hands will be free all day before you slide one on.
